Unleashed Preview: AAW Tag Team Champions The Western Kingdom defend against The Assault Squad
January 5, 2018
Since their inauguration during the epic clash between Paul London & Brian Kendrick and The Shark & Chris Target, the AAW Tag Team Championships have been contested in thrilling fashion. This legacy continues in 2018 as at Unleashed the reigning and defending World Tag Team Champions The Western Kingdom will take on new challengers The Assault Squad.
After weeks of mysterious messages the AAW audience finally discovered the identity of The Assault Squad, Bullet Kliq members Andrew ‘The Shark’ Carter and ‘The Australian Sensation’ Craven. Although this match will be the first match for he Assault Squad duo as a team, their individual resumes have convinced AAW management that they are qualified challengers to the Tag Team titles. This will be The Shark’s first opportunity to join his Bullet Kliq brethren since he saved Wayne ‘The Maniac’ Mattei from an attack from Scott Steiner and The Western Kingdom at SuperClash. It would be an incredible feat to win the Championships in their first match as a team, but if any competitors can do it, you may argue that The Shark and Craven would be the ones.
The Western Kingdom are yet to comment on the challengers, however, we may assume they are confident as their momentum over the last year has been unprecedented. The Kingdom have had ‘The Dominator’ Bobby Lashley, Jay Lethal, and AAW World Champion Wayne Mattei on their hit list in 2017. It would be hard to imagine a better way to begin 2018 than by turning away two of the most accomplished competitors in Australian Wrestling history.
