In the main event of Anniversary XI the AAW World Champion Chris Target defended his title against the longest reigning Ring of Honor World Champion in history, Jay Lethal. In what was the most stacked card in AAW history, Target and Lethal were tasked with topping it all. Their amazing efforts find them at number 6 on our count down.
It was clear from the outset that both men had mutual respect for the other, however they would stop at nothing to walk away with a victory. Jay Lethal was fully aware of the momentum that AAW has generated, and the talent that had forged this international notoriety, including Chris Target. Likewise, Target knew of the credentials of his opponent, the two squaring off years previously when Target was a rookie trying out at the ROH Dojo.
The contest delivered everything that was promised, and then some. The 700 plus in attendance at the Mike Barnett Centre in Rockingham were witness to incredible athletic feats including suicide dives, elbow drops, and springboard cutters. However, when the fall was counted and the bell rang it was AAW’s own ‘Main Attraction’ Chris Target whose hand was raised!
