AAWPerth.com recently sat down with current AAW No Limits Champion Felix Young as he prepares to take on his next challenger, the 'Hardcore Legend' Sabu this Saturday at AAW Total Chaos. Here's what he had to say:
The AAW No Limits Championship is the newest title in the company right now. What are your feelings about the Championship and how do you see yourself in relation to the rest of the locker room?
First of all the age of the championship doesn’t determine its value. In my eyes I hold THE championship in all action wrestling. As to my relation to the rest of the locker room, its different. Everyone has their buddies that they check on post match, no one checks on me. In fact, when I come to the back people just stare.
Is it fair to say that you are attracted to the Hardcore style of wrestling? What about the style draws you in?
I love it because there are no limits, no pun intended. I’ve always been one to push the envelope and hardcore wrestling allows me to do that.
What is your relationship like with Sabu? Is he someone you looked up to? How do you think you will feel about stepping into the ring with him this Saturday?
In school I would hear stories of a crazy guy who was innovating the use of steel chairs, a guy who used his body as a weapon. So after some searching I found an ECW tape. Sabu not only lived up the hype, he far surpassed it.
As for how I will feel stepping into the ring with him? To Sabu this is just another match to add to his list of thousands, to me its an opportunity. To me this is a chance to show the world that I can not only hang with the best in the world, but I can beat them.
Can you see any clear advantages you have or that you are looking to capitalise on?
All I will say is this. I learnt a long time ago how distracting having a loved one at ringside is, so I sure hope Genie is careful Saturday night.
Do you feel that AAW management has granted you this opportunity as a champion or that you have been overlooked in the past?
Oh I know I have been over looked in the past. I can’t even remember the last time I lost a match in AAW but I was left out of the Perth Classic because AAW management didn't want me to hurt Rob Van Dam. So I’m taking this opportunity to show AAW management and the world that I am one of the very best at what I do.
What would you say to those who are still undecided about buying a ticket to AAW Total Chaos?
To all those undecided about buying a ticket to Saturdays event, I implore you to come down. Its going to be a very special night capped off with the forced retirement of the Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying, Sabu.
