What makes professional wrestling so special is that it can’t be defined as either purely sport or purely entertainment. Wrestling is unique, and the training that will occur at the AAW Academy will reflect that. Members of the AAW Academy will have access to a fully equipped gym, where they can develop and maintain the top physical conditioning that wrestling demands. Whilst being trained to the highest athletic standards inside and outside the ring, the Academy will also focus on character development as Academy members harness and enhance their charismatic abilities in a specialised Media and Performance area.
Academy members will also learn the phycology of crowd reaction and interaction through seminars with the greatest wrestling and performance minds in the world, including WWE, WCW, ECW and TNA talent development specialists Al Snow, Tommy Dreamer, and Vince Russo. The AAW Academy will train its members to tell physical and verbal stories and ready them to perform not only for Western Australian audiences, but globally through our official sanctioning and syndication with the Nation Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
The facility will have a show ready ring for Academy members to experience what it is like to perform at a live event. A strength and conditioning area with a treadmill, weight machines, free weights and personal trainers ready to personalise strength and conditioning programs for trainees at any level of experience. This will also include the ability to rehabilitate current AAW performers in different ways, including yoga programs. The character development area will be fitted with cameras and screens so Academy members can record and review all of their progress both inside and outside of the ring with immediate feedback from coaches.
